The search for new protein sources of good quality, accessibility and high bioavailability is an important strategy for the development and profitability of fresh water fish farming. With this point of view an experiment was carried out to evaluate the inclusion of sacha inchi cake, Plukenetia huallyabambana, in the diets of gamitana fingerlings, Colossoma macropomum, and its effect on productive behavior and apparent digestibility coefficient of dry matter (ADCDM) and protein (ADCP). 108 gamitanas (5.56±0.64 g) obtained from “Nuevo Horizonte” aquaculture center in Iquitos were distributed in nine aquariums of 50 L (12 fish per aquarium) and maintaining a water recirculation system at 28.3±1.23 C°, 7.06±0.61 mg.L-1 of dissolved oxygen, 7.63±0.11 of pH, 57±4.44 mg.L-1 of alkalinity and below 0.2 mg.L-1 of ammonia nitrogen. Three isonitrogenous (30% of protein) and isoenergetic (3.10 Kcal.g-1) experimental diets were formulated: A control diet, without sacha inchi cake (T0) and two diets containing 20 and 30 percent sacha inchi cake (T1 and T2). The fish were fed five percent of their body weight during the first 35 days to determine the growth and ad libitum feeding to determine digestibility. At the end of the experiment data showed the inclusion of sacha inchi cake in 20 and 30 percent in the diet had good results in the growth of the gamitanas (23.11±0.66 g and 24.48±0.41 g), however the control diet (T0) turned out to be more efficient. The values of ADCDM and ADCP of the diets T0 (81.78±0.69% and 93.06±0.83%) and T1 (82.13±0.48% and 93.71±0.31%) showed good digestibility, however the T2 diet (84.91±0.38 % and 95.57±0.25%) obtained the highest value.
