Strawberry cultivation in Peru has been acquiring greater importance, due to the increase in both internal and external consumption, which is why the harvested fruit must be of good quality, free of defects due to disease and pest attacks. Currently, the strawberry crop has infestations of various pests, one of them being mites, which affects the normal development of the plants. The Tetranychus urticae Koch mite (red spider mite) is one of the main pests that affects strawberries in Peru. Its infestation begins in the lower third of the plant. Adults and nymphs extract nutrients from mature leaves, locating on the underside. One of the symptoms of spider mite attack is chlorotic spots on the leaves, which results in a decrease in the photosynthetic rate and an increase in the respiration rate.
