Identifying the priority areas for forest restoration in Huanuco amazon region was made on a spatial multi-criteria approach to assess environmental soundness and viability of forest restoration, based on the definition and assignment of importance weights of multiple criteria and aptitude area indicators. Relaying on information quality and spatial conditioning in the study area, 10 prioritization criteria were selected, which were grouped founded on three intervention objectives: 1) improving landscape biodiversity, 2) improving ecosystem services provision and 3) improving population livelihood through income generating activities. A total of 08 local experts and connoisseurs provided importance weights for each criteria and indicator expressing their relative importance depending on the prioritization objectives, to then be processed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique, whose consistency analysis showed the relevance of three criteria: disturbance, patch and soil quality. The final result is represented in three maps that allows to identify the sites on which we must focus the resources and restoration efforts. This study shows an effective way to involve experts and stakeholders in assessing the prioritization criteria and offers a methodology with technical support emphasizing the importance of spatial analysis and the use of geographic information systems in forest restoration planning
