The objective of this research was to evaluate the population, live weights, fleece weight, natality, and mortality of fleece color in alpacas Huacaya of the Germplasm Bank of Alpacas of Color and Llamas, annex Quimsachata (INIA-PUNO). Nine alpaca fleece colors have been identified: white, LF (Light Fawn), light coffee, coffee, dark coffee, reddish coffee, black, gray, and api. Among the years 2016 - 2018, the total population of Alpacas decreased by 12.36 percent, while the average percentage of white fleece alpacas, black, coffee, and reddish coffee represented 32.90, 17.53, 16.60 and 11.20 percent respectively. In addition, light brown, dark brown, gray and api represented less than six percent of the population. For the statistical analysis, three color groups were formed, light (LF, light brown, and coffee), black-dark (reddish coffee, dark brown, and black), and gray-api (gray and API). In the 2013 - 2018 period, means of 5.98 ± 0.91 kg, 22.93 ± 4.81 kg, and 26.06 ± 4.28 kg were obtained, for live weights at birth, weaning, and year of age respectively, where the color group effect wasn’t significant (p>0.05). The fleece weight at the first shearing had an average of 1.49 ± 0.26 kg, and a significant color effect was found. The average of natality was 53.41 percent, and a higher natality was obtained for the light color group. The highest mortality occurred in the black-dark group, during the 2015 - 2018 period, mainly as a consequence of infectious diseases. In conclusion, the population of color alpaca Huacaya of the Germplasm Bank of Quimsachata, has been gradually decreasing, but its maintains values of live weights, fleece weight, natality, and mortality, among average reported for a dry puna agroecological zone.
