The Academic Vice-Rector's Office (VRA) of UNALM and its institutional dependencies are offices whose budget management directly affect the teaching-learning process of the University. Considering that in 2016, the five-year VRA management began with a budget deficit greater than S/.400 thousand soles, the economic evaluation of its budget execution is important to understand its causality and provide the opportunity to carry out a comparative analysis of alternative solutions. To the existing problem, through the main use of cost-benefit analysis. The initial diagnosis has indicated that the main source of income is own resources (RDR), basically made up of income provided by “Admission Exam“ and “University Rights“, which represent 63% of total income. The results have shown that the lack of control in income-expenses balance, in 2015, led to a situation of budget deficit, complicating the start of management from 2016 onwards. The economic evaluation integrated into the Institutional Strategic Plan (PEI), the objectives and the institutional strategic actions, have shown evidences of the modernization of the Admission process and its economic consequences, support for educational innovation, the informatics integration of the VRA and the System Integrated Management (SIGU), modernization of the library system; also the economic impact of student contributions. The evaluation concludes on the importance of maintaining budget control, both on the part of the “user“ area (the VRA) as well as on the part of the University Planning Office, in order to keep the budget balance and avoid deficit situations. Additionally, the substantial participation of the MINEDU and the VLIR to achieve the achievements of the management stands out.
