In the Chavimochic irrigation, an integrated pest management program (IPM) has been developed in the asparagus crop, whose protagonists are mostly business farmers. The present study characterizes the technical development, identifies the most relevant components, and determines the effects of its implementation on the sustainability of the Chavimochic agroecosystem. Primary and secondary information on the technical development of the IPM Program was collected from 1997 to 2016 in the asparagus crop. Information was obtained from companies with areas of cultivation that influence the dynamics of phytosanitary problems. Information was collected from the Asociación de Agricultores Agroexportadores y Propietarios de Terrenos de Chavimochic (APTCH). Information was generated jointly with the APTCH Health Committee. Interviews and / or surveys were applied to those responsible for the phytosanitation of the different agricultural companies. In the cultivation of asparagus, the most difficult is Prodiplosis longifila because it is permanent, around which, they have developed different control methodologies that involve the management of other pests. Every method of control uses technical knowledge in irrigation, obtained in the field and shared through courses and training aimed at reducing the use of broad-spectrum insecticides, organized by Comité de Sanidad APTCH, which is the institution that unites all farmers and ensures health in a group of all companies. This MIP model can serve as an example of development for other programs of implementation of a MIP Program, since it details the way it evolved, from its beginnings, to the present.
