The water crisis in the world has prompted the constant search for technological tools and processes for continuous improvement in the management of water resources. In this context, artificial wetlands provide a solution for the treatment of contaminated water, imitating the purification process that occurs in natural wetlands, generating an environmentally friendly and efficient solution in the reduction of pollutants. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the sustainability of an artificial wetland located in a public park, measuring its efficiency in the treatment of contaminated water for reuse in irrigation, comparing the water quality of the influent and effluent; likewise, its environmental and social impact was measured using the Leopold Matrix and social perception interviews, respectively, and finally its economic sustainability was evaluated by using financial profitability indicators. The results of this evaluation showed that artificial wetlands are technically, socially, environmentally, and economically viable and sustainable for their use in the treatment of contaminated water for reuse in the irrigation of green areas, in populated areas that do not have drinking water supply facilities.
