The aim of the study is to determine the presence of economics of scale in the agents of the Peruvian forest sector. For this objective, it was used primary information, cross-sectional type, regarding various actors involved in the sector. The analysis was performed in the departments of Ucayali, Loreto and Madre de Dios. Two types of models were specified: the total cost function Cobb-Douglas and the total cost function Translog. The results showed the presence of economics of scale in three agents: medium and large extractors, intermediaries-extractors and concessionaires; while producers, small extractors, and intermediaries there are diseconomies of scale. The results explain that agents have economies of scale are those that concentrate larger volumes of wood, while those with diseconomies of scale are those that provide intermediaries and these at the same time to large buyers.
