The main objective of the current research was to determine the general combining ability (GCA), specific combining ability (SCA) and heterosis in crosses of yellow corn hard in the La Molina location, during September 2016 to February 2017 and August 2017 to February 2018. Six lines from CIMMYT (CML-226, CML-229, CML-428, CML-453, CML-486 and CML-487), the direct crosses and four controls (PM-213, EXP-05, DK-7088 and H5070) were studied. The statistical design was a quadruplex lattice 5x5; the effects of GCA and SCA were determined by the diallelic design method II proposed by Griffing (1956); and heterosis was determined based on the average of the parents (h) and the superior parent (h'). Genotypes showed interaction with years for grain yield, number of days to male flowering and female; height of plant and corncob did not present interaction genotypes x years. Interaction GCA for years was found out for days to male flowering and SCA for years in number of days to female flowering. The CML-229 and CML-428 lines presented the highest GCA effect for grain yield (-0.59) and (0.52), the CML-487 line had greater effect of GCA for heights of plant (-18.26) and corncob (-9.37) and days to male flowering (-1.43); the greater effect of SCA for grain yield (2.24) was presented by the cross CML-453xCML-486. The highest values of average heterosis and superior parent for grain yield were presented by the crosses CML-229xCML-453 (h = 454.4 % and h’ = 433.5) and CML-453xCML-487 (h = 440.7 % and h’ = 402.6). The effects of GCA was very important for height of plant, days to male and female flowering; the effects of the SCA for grain yield and height of corncob.
