The effect of four temperatures was evaluated Control: 24 °C, (T1) 26 °C, (T2) 28 °C, (T3) 30 °C in the gonadic conditioning (morpho-physiological index) and spawning at descending temperature (15, 17 and 21 °C) of a Pteria sterna oyster reproductive stock selected from the natural environment under laboratory conditions. 137 adult organisms of Pteria sterna were collected from the coastal area of Chanduy (Ecuador) in September 2015, of which 125 were used for the present investigation with an average shell height of 7.9 ± 0.8 cm. The feeding for the oyster consisted of a mixed diet of microalgae of Isochrysis galbana, Chaetoceros gracilis, and Tetraselmis sp, in a ratio of 1: 1: 1 at a concentration of 150 to 180 thousand cel/ml. Of the 125 organisms 53 were used to evaluate the gonad quality by means of the morpho-physiological index, the state of gonadal maturity, diameter of the oocytes and sex by histological analysis. In addition, 72 organisms were destined to induce spawning. The results indicate that the gonadosomatic index (IGS) presented an inverse relationship with the muscular performance index (IRM) and the mantle index (IMA) in the different conditioning treatments control (24 °C), T1 (26 °C), T2 (28 °C), T3 (30 °C). The highest values of IGS coincided with low values of IRM and IMA in the second week. Regarding the stage of maturity, 25% of mature organisms (MAD) could be observed in females in the (T2 and T3) and 50% males (T3); the largest diameter of oocytes was observed in the treatment of 28 °C (38.72 ± 3.3μm); Regarding spawning, the treatment of 28 °C was the only one that responded to the stimulus of thermal shock, at a descending temperature of 17 °C at 20 minutes of exposure, obtaining the release of gametes
