The purpose of this research work was to evaluate the effect of bird by-product meal on the productive behavior of the Japanese quail in the laying stage. The experiment was carried out in the quail research module at the facilities of the Program for Research and Social Projection in Food of the Faculty of Zootechnics of the National Agrarian University La Molina; for which 280 quail of 28 weeks of age evaluated during 8 weeks were used. The statistical model applied was the Completely Random Design and the statistical evaluation included the analysis of variance and the Duncan test. Four treatments were studied, which included levels of 0, 5, 10 and 15 percent of bird by-product flour, to which the nutrient content was adjusted based on the NRC requirement (1994). The fresh water was offered ad libitum while the food was supplied calculating for a consumption of 30g / bird / day to avoid waste. The experimental diets were subjected to a protein analysis. The parameters evaluated in the present investigation were: Percentage of posture, numbers of total eggs, mass of eggs, average weight of the egg, consumption of food, feed conversion, mortality and economic retribution. The parameter food consumption / bird / day, presented significant statistical differences for the Duncan test between the control treatments and with an inclusion level of 5 percent of bird by-product flour. Regarding the parameters of posture percentage, number of total eggs, total food consumption, egg mass, average egg weight and feed conversion, there were no statistically significant differences between treatments. The highest economic compensation was achieved by using diets including between 5 and 15 percent of bird by-product flour, generating 4, 10 and 11 percent more economic compensation with respect to the control diet.
