In the present work, the most important criteria that must be taken into account for the construction of an earth dam in the qocha Acococha located at the head of the Santa River hydrographic basin, Catac district, Recuay province, Ancash region, were applied. The qocha is located at 4,567 meters above sea level and will allow to secure the availability of water that is required in the locality of Acococha, since it will allow to store 32,210 m3 of water, and will allow to irrigate 20 hectares of land, and that will benefit 48 families surrounding the present work for the development of agricultural activities (which is its main economic activity) and mitigate the scarcity of water in the dry months. The budget for carrying out this work was S/.126, 813 nuevos soles. The work consisted of the construction of an earthen dyke with dimensions of 60.20 meters in length, with a height of 1.80 meters and a crown width of 4.04 meters; the discharge system consisted of a 16 meter long pipe, the valve box is made up of a fixed stem gate valve and a 1.30 x 1.30 m reinforced concrete safety box; the spillway was located on the right margin of the crown and has a length of 35 meters, a width of 8.00 meters and a height of 0.45 meters that will evacuate the maximum flow that is 1,803 m3 .s-1 , which is calculated in relation to the water of the ISHKEYAKU creek that flows through the runoff zone for a return period of 100 years. The scheduled items in the file were carried out in the field, and the work was completed in 45 days, having started on June 6 and ended on July 20, 2022 of this year.
