In recent decades, our country was among the first eight economies to register rapid economic growth. Based on these results, public investment was significantly increased; To this end, a series of social policies were implemented with the objective of reducing the poverty and extreme poverty rate; However, this process of advances in economic growth and social programs did not show a reduction in rural poverty; since currently, there is a precarious context in rural areas, characterized by abandonment, inequality and with the apparent bankruptcy of future expectations; Thus, the idea of seeing entrepreneurs as an agent of change and response to the need to generate a space of opportunity that contributes to improving the level of well-being in the rural population is strengthened. In response to this, the PROCOMPITE initiative is promoted in the rural communities of the San Sebastián district, through a non-refundable co-financing contest for entrepreneurial initiatives. The main objective of this research work was to determine the relationship that exists between entrepreneurship and economic development in the peasant communities of the San Sebastián-Cusco district, within the framework of the PROCOMPITE program, in the period 2019 -2021. The type of research was applied with a non-experimental design, correlational descriptive scope and quantitative approach. The study population was the beneficiaries of the PROCOMPITE program from the peasant communities of Huillcarpay, Pumamarca, Quillahuata and Ccorao in the district of San Sebastián, taking 144 beneficiary entrepreneurs as a study sample, the survey technique was used. The investigation detailed that, in 2019, the entrepreneurs of the peasant communities of the district of San Sebastián, beneficiaries of the PROCOMPITE program, were characterized by having little productive infrastructure, lacking equipment, insufficient financing, artisanal and inadequate production, low competitiveness and limited economic income. . At the end of 2021, once the PROCOMPITE investment had been completed, it was found that 61% of respondents perceived regular utility from their venture in relation to job creation; Likewise, in relation to the influence of entrepreneurship on production, 79% perceived high utility and 15% perceived regular utility. Finally, entrepreneurship in competitiveness, 8% perceived low utility, 91% perceived regular utility and 1% perceived high utility. The research concludes that entrepreneurship is significantly positively related to the economic development of the peasant communities of the San Sebastián district, in the period 2019-2021.
