In the present study, the effects of two levels of protein (40% and 44%) and two levels of digestible energy (4.0 and 4.4 Mcal / kg) have been evaluated on weight and height gain, food cost and feed conversion (CA) of fingerlings of paiche (Arapaima gigas). It was carried out in the Research Laboratory of Nutrition and Feeding in Fish and Crustaceans of the National Agrarian University of La Molina, where it was used a continuous water recirculation system, maintaining an average temperature of 28ºC and oxygen dissolved of 6.3 mg / L. Four experimental diets were formulated resulting from the interaction of two levels of total protein and two levels of digestible energy in fingerlings with an average initial body weight of 12.4 grams, grouped into three blocks of size (large, medium and small). Food was supplied near satiety point 7 days a week. Results for weight gain and biomass gain showed significant differences regarding to protein / energy level. The best results were obtained with 44% of crude protein and 4 Mcal / kg of digestible energy. Regarding the feed conversion, the diets with 44% of protein and 4 Mcal / kg of digestible energy showed better efficiency, with significant differences between crude protein, energy and the interrelation between both. The effect of the protein level 44% and the energy level 4 Mcal / kg resulting in the Energy to Protein ratio of 9, caused the best results.
