The economic benefits of using certified seed for the production of rice in our country and the possible gains in competitiveness are evaluated. The objective is to measure the economic benefits obtained with the massive use of certified seed in rice production at the national level, replacing the non-certified or common seed. To determine the profitability of the certified seed in the short term, in a risk environment, the partial budget was used and the marginal cost benefit index was obtained. For the long-term evaluation, the economic surplus change model was used with a Monte Carlo simulation, to obtain the economic benefits of producers, consumers and society, for the use of certified rice seed. It is demonstrated that the non-use of certified seeds results in losses in yield per hectare and monetary profitability for rice producers, since with the use of certified seed there would be an increase in yield of 26.94% per hectare and profit margin of 94.16. % and a Benefit Index Cost of 1.14. Consumers increase their surplus by almost 6 billion, producers by just over 3 billion, while the government recovers its investment with a NPV of 9 billion soles, while reducing the cost per kilogram by 17 cents per kilo or 19 percent, thereby increasing its export possibilities or reducing imports.
