The general objective of this work is to estimate the degree of water erosion in the Chamacha stream basin, which belongs to the Lurín river basin, Antioquia and San Andres of Tupicocha districts, Huarochirí province, Lima region, using the Geographic information system. To determine the potential water erosion, the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) was used, and a geospatial model was applied with the use of GIS (Geographic Information System) tools, through which the potential erosion zones were identified. according to the FAO classification, and which was reflected in a thematic map, which shows the various levels of water erosion, where it could be concluded that the areas with High Potential Water Erosion (from 50 to 200 tons per hectare/year) cover a extension of 267.96 hectares (3.02 percent of the study area) and are located mainly in the upper part of the basin (which is where the greatest rainfall occurs), preferably in areas with steeper slopes and scarce vegetation cover. Finally, according to each determined potential water erosion zone, erosion control measures were proposed.
