The objective of this work is to describe in detail the development of a communication campaign based on the HEALTHCOM methodology to improve the feeding behavior of the families of the Momón river basin, Loreto-Peru. The methodology included a cyclic process of five stages (Research, Planning, Validation, Execution and Monitoring), this article focuses on the analysis of the planning and validation stages. The results showed that HEALTHCOM is a proposal that is accepted and successfully adapted to work with the populations that inhabit the ecosystems of the rural jungle of our country. During the planning phase, the data obtained in the research phase on nutritional problems, beliefs, attitudes, and practices served as a basis to analyze the behaviors, to then prioritize and select those behaviors that could be adopted. The prioritized behaviors to improve the feeding of the families are the increase of the consumption of fruits, vegetables, and proteic foods, as well as, to recognize the importance of the second ones in their feeding, and the consumption of soups of thick consistency. In the same way, for feeding during anemia, families should increase the consumption of iron source foods, and acidic fruits. In addition, the population was segmented taking into account the most affected population and other people related to the problem. The primary target group was mothers of families; the secondary target group were the community food agent, health personnel, grandmother, husband, mother-in-law; and the tertiary target group was the Association for the Amazon. Also, during this stage the combination of different means of communication, such as interpersonal communication (community food agents), mass media (radio) and support materials (calendars, cookbooks, manuals) , flipcharts, posters, flyers, t-shirts and hats), was planned to increase the effectiveness of the transmission of the message. The validation stage was applied to know how the population reacted to sketches of materials, concepts or messages before going to the final production of these and allowed to analyze and evaluate the level of understanding, acceptance and involvement of the target group with the messages.
