This study is part of the Reintroduction Program of Spider Monkeys in the South-east Peruvian Amazon. The objective is to describe the behavior of reintroduced spider monkeys, compare their behavior with wild populations and analyze the factors which could influence the behavior of the released individuals. A total of 17 spider monkey in three groups were released in 2011, 2013 and 2014. After release, the groups were continuously monitored for 3 months. To register activity patterns, habitat use (vertical distribution, home range and sleeping trees), diet, and other components, we used scan sampling and ab libitum recording methods. The activity patterns was: resting 43.2%, moving 39.6%, feeding 16% and other behaviour 1.2%. Vertical distribution was: canopy 47.1%, understory 37.7%, emergent layer 12.5% and ground 2.7%. Home range varied between 20.13-38.75ha. Tall and wide trees were used as sleeping trees. Diet was mostly frugivorous, and the species of plant most consumed were: Pseudolmedia laevis, Brosimum lactesciens, Pouteria sp, Ficus sp, Clarisa racemosa, Spondias monbin, Inga sp y Virola sp. The individuals who did not develop the behavior like the wild ones were those who had spent the longest time in captivity, arrived at the center as adults, had a shorter socialization period or showed a high degree of imprinting on humans. Interventions also occurred due to individual separation from the main group, lack of adaptation to the environment and physical injury, giving a second opportunity to those who showed improvements. Three individuals were killed by harpy eagle and wild births have been reported. The results indicate that reintroduced spider monkeys can develop behavior similar to that of wild populations, but there are some captive conditions that could influence the development of proper behavior. The post-release response is an adaptive and different process for each individual and it is therefore important to maintain a constant monitoring during the first months and intervene when necessary
