The objective of this observational study was to determine the correlation between keel deformation and breast conformation and skeletal integrity in broilers. At day 26, 43 male chickens from the Ross 308 line were benefited, considering the keel of each chicken as an experimental unit. The keel deformation variables evaluated were: curvilinear score, deformation area, keel length, keel deformation index, tilt score and tilt angle. On the other hand, the breast conformation variables evaluated were: Carcass weight, Carcass percentage, Breast weight, Breast percentage, Boneless breast weight, Percent of boneless breast. Finally, variables of skeletal integrity evaluated before the slaughter of the chickens were: valgus and varus, while the variables evaluated after slaughter of the chickens were: femoral degeneration score, bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis and tibial dyschondroplasia. Data were processed using the SAS statistical software and analyzed by Spearman correlation. The results not showed significant correlations between the keel deformation variables with breast conformation. However, they indicated correlations between the keel deformation variables with skeletal integrity; the following significant mean negative correlations (P <0.05) were found between SVLD with LQ - 0.317; SVRZ with SI -0.321; SDFZ, SDFP, SCBOZ and SCBOP with ARD -0.356, -0.312, -0.368 and 0.357, respectively; SDFZ and SCBOZ with LQ -0.365 and -0.368, respectively; SDFZ, SCBOZ and SCBOP with IDQ -0.331, -0.344 and -0.341, respectively. As well as the following significant mean positive correlations between SDTZ, SDTD and SDTP with LQ (0.381; P <0.05), (0.454; P <0.01) and (0.455; P <0.01), respectively, were found. In conclusion, the keel deformation variables LQ, SI, ARD and IDQ are moderately correlated with the variables VL, VR, DF, CBO and DT.
