This research the degree of development of urban forestry in ten districts of Metropolitan Lima, the districts were selected considering the spatial distribution, demographic and classification by zones north, center, south, east and Callao being the districts of the study area: Lima Cercado, Miraflores, Comas, Los Olivos, San Juan de Lurigancho, La Molina, Pachacámac, Villa El Salvador, Callao and Ventanilla. The Methodology consisted in the collection and analysis of primary and secondary information sources. Revised the Concerted Development Plans to identify if the municipalities implement urban forestry strategies, the municipalities were visited and the managers of city service, environmental management and green areas were interviewed, 384 in-depth surveys were applied to the population of the study area. On the other hand, it is known that green areas play a fundamental role in improving the quality of life; likewise, the World Health Organization - WHO recommends 9 square meters of green area per inhabitant, of this space Metropolitan Lima only has 3.7 m2 /inhabitant. The results indicate that there is a norm and policy that promotes the development of urban forestry, however, they are unknown by the local authorities, the main limitations for the implementation of urban forestry are the scarce availability of space and water for irrigation, the perception of the population regarding the management of the green areas is conditioned to the characteristics of the development of the district being Comas, Pachacámac, Ventanilla the districts that least implement some strategy in front of the districts that are implemented as Miraflores, La Molina and Los Olivos.
