Morphological characterization of the Creole hen from the Chimborazo province in Ecuador; associating it with some productive and reproductive characteristics within their production systems, was characterization developed in the San Guisel, Llinllín and Rumiloma communities of canton Colta, and Jatumpamba, Chismaute and La Merced of canton Guamote. For the morphological characterization, 200 females and 60 males were used; taking the following measurements: thoracic perimeter (PT), thigh length (LM), length., leg length (LP), tarsus length (LT), wing length (LA), body length (LC), wing width (AA), peak height (AC), tail length (LC); in addition, the live weight (P); the evaluated animals were females about 52 weeks old, and adult males. Differences (p ˂ 0.01), were found between cantons and among communities within cantons; in females, for measures P, LT, LA, LC, AA, AC, LO, AO, and, in males, only for LM, LP, LT and AC. In the canton Colta, the Llinllín females recorded the highest measurements, a body weight of 1.62 kg and a tarsus length of 7.70 cm; also, in Rumiloma, the greatest body length was 36.35 cm. The male: female ratio was 1: 2, and 1:3, and 57% of the community members collected eggs daily, from 4 to 8, to satisfy the family consumption; commercializing the rest with neighbors or stores of the community. About 43% of the families, collect 1 to 3 eggs for self-consumption, as part of their daily diet. The communities of the Colta canton presented greater differences (p < 0.01) in their corporal measures, showing lighter weights and orientation to eggs production, contrasting with the measurements of the Guamote canton, which have heavier birds with a tendency to meat production.
