Abstract: El objetivo fue evaluar los rendimientos y las características tecnológicas de los grupos de calidad de fibra de alpaca obtenidos en el proceso de clasificación. Los vellones provinieron de alpacas de majada de la Cooperativa Comunal San Pedro de Racco, muestreados durante la esquila de 2012. Se tomaron al azar 40 vellones, 10 por cada grupo de categorización (Extrafino, Fino, Semifino y Grueso) los que fueron clasificados de acuerdo a la Norma Técnica Peruana 231.302:2004, obteniéndose 137 calidades. Se evaluó el rendimiento al clasificado y las características tecnológicas de longitud de mecha, rendimiento al lavado, diámetro de fibra, porcentaje de humedad, contenido de grasa residual y contenido de ceniza por cada grupo de calidad, siguiendo las normas IWTO-12, IWTO-19, ASTM D1576 - 12 y la Norma Técnica Peruana 231.302:2004. Se determinaron las diferencias entre grupos de calidad (Baby, Fleece, Medium Fleece, Huarizo y Gruesa) para cada característica tecnológica, mediante análisis de varianza y prueba de Duncan. Se encontraron diferencias entre calidades para la longitud de mecha (P<0.05) y diámetro de fibra (P<0.01), mientras que para el rendimiento al lavado, contenido de grasa residual y contenido de ceniza no se encontraron diferencias (P>0.05). Los resultados indican que la calidad Fleece y Medium Fleece se encuentra en mayor proporción en todas las categorías; la calidad Baby y Fleece presentan menores promedios de diámetro de fibra y, mayores promedios de longitud de mecha, contenido de ceniza y contenido de grasa residual. Se concluyó que el proceso de categorización y clasificación de fibra de alpaca permite identificar y separar fibras que brindan un mayor valor agregado al vellón, obteniendo mayores rendimientos por calidades, los cuales pueden generar un mayor beneficio económico a los productores.
The objective was to evaluate the yields and technological characteristics of alpaca fiber quality groups obtained in the classification process. The fleeces came from “majada” of the Communal Cooperative of “San Pedro de Racco” sampled during the shearing campaign of 2012. A total of 40 fleeces were taken randomly, 10 for each categorization group (Superfine, Fine, Medium and Coarse), which were classified according to Peruvian Technical Standard 231.302:2004, obtaining 137 qualities. The classification yields and the technological characteristics of staple length, clean alpaca fiber present, fiber diameter, moisture percentage, residual grease content and ash content per quality group were evaluated according to IWTO-12, IWTO-19, ASTM D1576-12 and Peruvian Technical Standard 231,302:2004. Differences among quality groups (Baby, Fleece, Medium Fleece, Huarizo and Coarse) were determined for each technological characteristic, using analysis of variance and Duncan's trial. Differences were found among qualities for staple length (P<0.05) and fiber diameter (P<0.01), while no differences (P>0.05) were found for clean alpaca fiber present, residual grease content and ash content. The results indicated that the quality Fleece and Medium Fleece were found in greater proportion in all the categories; the quality Baby and Fleece have lower averages of fiber diameter and higher averages of staple length, ash content and residual grease content. We concluded that the categorization and classification process allow the identification and separation of alpaca fibers that provide a higher added value to the fleece, obtaining higher yields for qualities, which could generate a greater economic benefit to the producers.
