The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of different feed fibrosity levels in alpacas intake and apparent digestibility. In addition, a regression equation was generated to estimate the organic matter digestibility (OMD) from the crude protein (CP) content in faeces. The study was conducted under the Swich Back design for 4 treatments, with experimental rations with neutral detergent fiber (NDF) ranges of 40.3% (T1), 62.1% (T2), 67.8% (T3) and 71.6% (T4). An analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's test (p < 0.05) were performed. Dry matter intake (DMI) based on body weight (BW) and metabolic weight (MW) was higher (p < 0.05) in T1 compared to the other treatments, with values ranging from 2.0% BW and 48.3 g/ kg BW0.75 (T1), and 1.3% BW and 31.9 g/ kg BW0.75 (T4). The NDF intake based on BW and MW was higher in T1 compared to the other treatments, with values ranging from 1.0% BW (24.8 g/ kg BW0.75) (T1), and 0.8% BW (20.4 g/ kg BW0.75) (T4). However, no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) were observed between the experimental rations. Water intake (L/day) was higher in T1 compared to the other treatments, with values ranging from 1.8 L/day (T1) to 1.4 L/day (T4). Dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), CP and FDN digestibility was higher (p < 0.05) in T1 compared to the other treatments, with values ranging from 66.4% (T1) to 50.3% (T4) for DM, 68.5% (T4) to 53.4% (T1) for OM, 61.1% (T4) to 41.5% (T1) for CP, and 60.7% (T4) to 50.4% (T1) for FDN. The regression equation generated was as follows: y = 0.07635-(-0.33866*exp(-(-0.4484)*Fecal PC(g/kg OM)/100)), RMSE = 0.09. The results indicate that DM and NDF intake, as well as the DM, OM, CP and NDF digestibility are negatively related to feed fibrosity level.
