The objective of this study was to evaluate the precisión and accuracy of the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC compared to the Laserscan (LSN) and Projection Microscope (MP) for measuring the Mean Fiber Diameter (MFD), Standard Deviation (SD) ), Coefficient of Variation (CV) and Comfort Factor (CF) were used five tops of alpaca fiber (16.8 to 31.4μm) and eight wool tops (15.71 to 35.37μm) of known diameters; and 214 samples of alpaca fiber and 35 samples of wool obtained from the midside were used. The study was carried out in the Laboratory of Textile, Skins and Leather of the Animal Science College of the National Agrarian University la Molina under controlled environment, at a humidity of 65 ± 3% and a temperature of 20 ± 2ºC. For the calibration and validation of the equipment, top wool patterns of 2017-II provided by the International Association of Wool Textile Laboratories (INTERWOOLLABS) were used; the LSN and MP were calibrated and validated according to the provisions of the International Wool Textile Organization, (IWTO-12 and IWTO-08) respectively and the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC as indicated by Quispe et al (2018). Descriptive statistics were used to determine the precision and accuracy of each equipment's results. A nested design was used to evaluate the effect of the variation of the number and side of slide between the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC. The results of the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC, using samples of alpaca fiber and wool showed good accuracy and moderate accuracy, by evaluating the MFD, DS, CV and CF. A high correlation was observed in the results of the 4 equipments in samples of alpaca fiber and a moderate correlation in wool samples; therefore, the four equipments report similar results when evaluating alpaca and wool fiber. Significant differences were found between the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC when the mean fiber diameter was evaluated, but no significant difference was observed for the number and side of the slide between the MiniFiber-EC and Fiber-EC for the same parameter evaluated.
