Our research goal was to determine whether anthropogenic factors and habitat characteristics influence game wildlife occurrence in the Chirikyacu community. To characterize the community of game species, a camera trap survey consisting of 32 camera traps was performed between August and October 2019 during the dry season, reaching a total effort of 2167 trap nights. Naïve occupancy, detection frequency, activity patterns, and spatial detection distribution of game species were calculated. The influence of environmental (distance to water altitude, slope, NDVI, forest cover, and ecosystem type) and anthropogenic (distance to villages, distance to trails, distance to protected areas) factors was analyzed in eight game species, using a single-season single-species Royle-Nichols abundance-induced heterogeneity model (Royle & Nichols, 2003). Seventeen semi-structured household interviews and a focus group were also executed under an approach of qualitative analysis to assess the hunting activity patterns.
