Currently, the Rio Abiseo National Park protects cloudy montane forests, unique and fragile ecosystems that play an important role in water capture and biodiversity harboring. Among these, it also protects montane forests impacted by logging, livestock and forest burning, which are in process of restoration. Within animal diversity, soil and leaf-litter arthropods represent a key group for forest restoration, due to their participation in decomposition, nutrient cycle, and soil formation. Therefore, this research proposed to determine and compare the richness, composition, abundance, and diversity of arthropod communities in three areas at different levels of restoration, hillside forest, trampled forest and equisetal. During the dry season of 2018, soil and leaf-litter samples from 81 sampling points were collected and sifted, then arthropods were collected through Winkler extractors. These were taxonomically determined and arrays of morphospecies abundances were developed to calculate the alpha diversity of each area according to Shannon index, Simpson’s index and Hill numbers. Additionally, the composition of the communities was compared through NPManova analyses, similarity indices (Sorense, Jaccard, MorisitaHorn modified by Chao et al. 2016) and diversity profiles. I found 4874 individuals belonging to 275 morphospecies, of which mites, coleoptera, hymenoptera and spiders stood out. Statistical tests and similarity indexes indicated differences between the three communities, highlighting the contrast between the equisetal community and the others. Furthermore, according to diversity profiles, rare species and low equity predominated in communities, especially in the equisetal. In sum, the diversity of arthropods decreased to a lower degree of restoration; consequently, the indicator capacity of these animals is preliminarily noted.
