The main objective was to determinate the variation in comfort factor (CF) of Huacaya alpaca fleece from Cerro de Pasco, Peru. Specific objectives were to determinate the age and sex effect upon the CF, and to determinate Pearson correlation among CF, mean fiber diameter (FD), mean fiber diameter standar deviation and mean fiber diameter coefficient of variation. Fleece samples were taken from mid-side region of 282 white Huacaya alpacas from the Huayllay peasant community in 2013. All the animals, male and female, were divided by age in four groups: milk tooth (MT), two teeth (2T), four teeth (4T) and full teeth (FT). To accomplish the normality assumption of the analysis of variance, FC values were transformed to LPF=log(100-CF). A linear model including age effect, sex effect and age by sex interaction was used to analyze LFP. The CF decreases while age increases; CF average was 96.99%, 93.92%, 92.94% and 82.51% for MT, 2T, 4T and FT respectively. The CF average was 90.80% and 82.03% for female and male respectively. The CF had a high negative phenotypic correlation (-0.90) with FD, moderate negative phenotypic correlation (-0.66) with the fiber diameter standar deviation and low phenotypic correlation (0.13) with the fiber diameter coefficient of variation. It was shown that age had a significant effect upon CF, but interaction age by sex was detected.
