The feeding activity of Spodoptera ochrea Hampson (Lep.: Noctuidae), was carried out in the research laboratory of the Museum of Entomology Klaus Raven Büller, of the Academic Department of Entomology of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina between April and December 2017. For the study of feeding activity, feeding indices were obtained and determined on a total of 90 individuals, kept in individual and groups according to the diet supplied being leaves of the middle third of Sweet Potato, Higuerilla and Capulí, collected from the agricultural area of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, Lima. The feeding indexes evaluated were: relative growth rate (TRcr); relative consumption rate (TRCo); feed intake conversion efficiency (ECI); feed digested conversion efficiency (ECD); approximate digestibility (DA). The evaluation was carried out on two generations of Spodoptera ochrea, during the larval period. During the feeding of Spodoptera ochrea larvae, measurements of leaf area of the leaves and the area consumed from the leaves supplied were taken. Also, the average weight of the neo-nate larvae was obtained for the initial weight and a final weighing when the larva completed its transformation to pupa. The middle third leaves supplied as diet presented different feeding indexes, finding that the leaves of Nicandra physaloides were the best in contrast with the other diets supplied and that the diet with Ricinus communis L. plant is the best diet that favors the obtaining of biomass to the larvae of Spodoptera ochrea in contrast with the other diets and it is concluded that the middle third leaves of the plant Ipomoea batatas L., is the least favorable diet in contrast to the other diets, probably due to the metabolic expenditure caused by the detoxification of secondary metabolites.
