SERFOR and its Forestry Program prioritized strategies to solve problems that were identified around the bamboo production chain through the results obtained from the participatory diagnosis carried out in four regions of the Peruvian Amazon. One of the problems was the need to reinforce the knowledge of the beneficiaries through training provided by a specialist. Trainings’ development followed participatory methodologies for adults, with gender approaches and in a theoretical and practical way, emphasizing the latter. The aspects addressed were prioritized according to the need and particularity of each region, covering bamboo management and transformation issues, linking regional authorities and others related to the bamboo production chain. As a result of the trainings, the participants have started local ventures such as the establishment of nurseries, plantations, and pole preservation services. Similarly, artisans and furniture builders improved their techniques and others have dabbled in bamboo construction, as well as bamboo shoot for food production. This has allowed the generation of greater economic, social and environmental dynamics in the regions, awakening the interest of entities linked to the bamboo production chain.
