Spillways are essential hydraulic structures in the design and construction process of dams, their main function is to properly evacuate excess water stored in reservoirs. However, those spillways that have a deficient design or with limited capacity to evacuate excess water during maximum events, could cause structural damage to the dams and to the set of structures downstream. In this sense, this professional sufficiency work develops the necessary procedure for the selection, the location, and the hydraulic design of the excess spillway that best suits the conditions of the study area of Macon 04 qocha. Likewise, it includes the procedure and results of the computational hydraulic simulation (IBER software) for the validation of the design. It allows guarantees that the structure adequately evacuates the flows of the maximum avenue and ensures that it does not affect the integrity of the dam of homogeneous material to which it accompanies. This work seeks to contribute with a casuistry of the design to meet the specific conditions of Macon 04 qocha, providing the criteria and technical considerations adopted for the purpose, as developed throughout this document.
