This research was developed in workshop facilities Tannery Department of Animal Production - FZ - UNALM and analysis laboratory quality control of CITEccal - Ministry of Production. The experimental part and quality tests were conducted over a period of 15 months. In which we sought to assess the technological characteristics of the leather uppers huacaya alpaca, obtained from the method of tanning with glutaraldehyde (wet-white) and traditional tanning basic chromium sulphate (wet blue) to obtain a final product that meets the minimum requirements of the International Standard for shoemaking. It is aware that the traditional tanning generates chromium concentrations in the effluent and therefore seeking alternative, The skins were randomized into two groups of 15 skins each. The first treatment (T1) corresponds to skins tanned with chromium sulfate basic and the second treatment (T2) to skins tanned with glutaraldehyde. The obtained data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and comparison of means test was used Duncan (α 0.05). No statistical difference (p> 0.05) between treatments were found for testingof: thickness, tensile strength and rupture resistance of flower; however significant differences (p <0.05) were found in the tear resistance and shrinkage temperature. In testing the flexural strength it was found that the resistance of T1 is greaterthe T2. Leathers for uppers Huacaya alpaca tanned by the wet-white and wet-blue methods show technological features ideal for making shoes, to comply with the Peruvian Technical Standards.
