The objective of this research is to determine the effect of eight levels of salinity in the irrigation water in the cultivation of the radish; vegetable of the Cruciferae family, which is grown and consumed almost all the world; and with a growing consumption in Peru. For this, the following agronomic indicators were evaluated after harvest: fresh weight (g), dry weight (g), plant length (cm), moisture content (%) and foliar element concentration: Ca (%), K (%), Mg (%), Na (%) and SO4 (%). The experimental phase was carried out within the UNALM campus, which lasted 35 days. The sowing took place in pots with sandy loam soil, from the same campus, which were subjected to eight treatments of different salinity in the irrigation water (0,64; 1,3; 2,1; 3,4; 4,6; 5, 9; 7 and 10 dS.m-1), which was applied since the appearance of its true leaves and according to the water requirements of the plant. The results obtained show that, for fresh weight, plant length and moisture content, the highest values are given in the T1 treatment (0.64 dS.m-1); while in treatments with higher salinity the yield decreases. With respect to the absorption of elements, calcium and sulfate show a better retention for salinity levels lower than 1.3 dS.m-1; whereas, sodium increases, directly proportional to salinity, and in turn displaces magnesium, which has a low absorption. The calculated indicators, after the harvest, show that the cultivation of radish is tolerant up to the salinity level of 5.9 dS.m-1; being the treatments with 7 and 10 dS.m-1, which cause the greatest reduction in their performance.
