The production of medicinal Cannabis is having a greater relevance worldwide thanks to its benefits to treat certain diseases and medical conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson's, chronic pain, side effects of chemotherapy, among others. The number of countries where its use for these purposes has been legalized, as well as its production, continues to increase, and Peru is one of them. On the other hand, Uruguay is the first country in the world where Cannabis was legalized in its entirety and for various purposes, such as recreational, medicinal and research. The professional experience carried out in a company that produces medicinal Cannabis in Uruguay has allowed generating knowledge and learning, as well as identifying some key aspects to achieve a successful development in this area, which seek to contribute to the progress of this industry in the Peru. Among these points, the following can be identified: a) genetics, plant breeding and variety development; b) the production and handling of regular and feminized seed and c) the HPLC analytical laboratory as a control mechanism. It is important to emphasize that there are other aspects in production that are also relevant, but those mentioned have their peculiarities and are not as frequent in the production of agro-industrial and agro-export crops of greater economic importance.
