This research work (TSP, for its acronym in Spanish) describes the work experience as a member of the local employment and procurement team inside the Comunnity Relations Office in the Gold Fields La Cima mining company, from 2014 and as person in charge od local employment from 2017, on the Cerro Corona mining operation, located in Hualgayoc district, Hualgayoc province, Cajamarca region. The objective is to present the development process of the strategy executed in order to improve the levels of local employment inside the workforce of the operation in the period from 2017 to 2019, as well as to present the results of this strategy. To achieve the objective, the situation found on the Cerro Corona operation related to local employment is presented as well as the organization of activities to be executed between the different areas on the operation, while at the same time the information available about the workforce from surrounding communities was organized and the development of a standardized local employment procedure is described. Also is presented the process of data organization and analysis of the information produced by the security systems inside the operation, this information is related to the personnel inside the operation. As a result of these processes it could be seen the share of the local workforce in the Cerro Corona operation and from this point it could be worked the job vacancies for local communities, in this way, local employment levels could increase from 577 workers on 2017 to 842 workers on 2019, representing a 45.9% increase. It could be noted that, focalization and individual data handling was key to improve local employment levels on different communities, as well as to improve social license between the operation and communities. It is true that inside the company, the topic of local employment has been handled since the early stages of construction in 2005, but with the pass of time it has been obvious the need that the standardized operative processes reflect the need to improve local employment levels, for all the operative areas and for the contractors. In the same way, systematization of the communication channels from communities and the channels for presentation of results from the operation allowed that local employment will not keep on been a topic for confrontation between communities and the operation, but a driver for improving the social environment as well the effectiveness of the meetings for the benefit of the population and sustainability of the operation.
