The research, wich was carried out in Llocllapampa community located in the department of Junin (3500 meters on level sea) during 1994 – 1995, shows in the morphological description five collections which have in common the kind semi-erect plant with light green – light purple stems and petioles; dark green to green leaf with purple border; light yellow seedling stem and orange tuber. In regard preliminary average yields, the cultivated collections range of 74,48 ton/ha to 24,45 ton/ha. It also has been found that the diameter of stem, the diameter of tuber and the number of tubers relate significantly with the yield (alpha=0,05), whereas the diameter of stem, the diameter of tuber, the number of principal stem, the height of plant and the area leaf explain the behavior of yield (R = 0,97). Finally as a whole view of morphological characteristics associated to yield shows the important distribution of mashua tubers in villages and in the whole country (Peru).
