This study is part of the section of the area of Huachipa (km. 27 + 450 km. 28 + 525 of the Rímac River) located downstream from the bridge of the Av. Las Torres in the Ate district, in which the two-dimensional hydraulic modeling was conducted. Using the hydrometric station information of Chosica from 1967-2016 period, the detailed topography of the area and the use of soil with their respective coefficients map. This has made the analysis of morphological and hydrological parameters of the basin of the Rímac River, generating flow of avenue for a return period of 140 years with 271.2 m3/s as described in the «Manual of roads: Hydrology, Hydraulics and Drainage» of the Ministry of transport and communications, whereas a tolerable risk of 25% and a shelf life of 45 years for works of bridges and coastal defenses, whose peak time is 4:08 hours.. Based on these data, the dimensionless unit hydrograph was developed in the context of the hydrographic basin of the Rímac river, for a total duration of the event of 11:25 hours and considering a flow base of 26.5 m3/s based on the annual average flow rate annual dry period in hydrological years in the basin. Through the use of two-dimensional mathematical models of HEC-RAS and IBER, in conjunction with the system of geographic information (GIS) tools, was determined the vulnerable areas to be flooded, being the left margin where the overflow occurs more pronounced from progressive 0 + 637.34, affecting the town “Asociación Huáscar“ in 0.75 ha. calculated with IBER and 2 ha. in HEC-RAS; in addition to compare the hydraulic parameters generated in both models for each section. Concluding that two-dimensional models are suited to the conditions of the study section, keeping results and a same trend, but still existing variations between results due to the geometry of the mesh, the sensitivity to certain parameters and conditions that each model works with the hydrodynamic equations
