The present work has been prepared with the purpose of demonstrating that, with the improvement of the inventory control system, the management of the fishery products warehouse of a Retail company, leader in the supermarket sector, would have an improvement in its performance in terms of to the storage, logistics and quality of its products. When carrying out the situational diagnosis, it was identified that they did not have clear and updated procedures to carry out work in a structured and organized way that would allow the correct management of the warehouse. The most relevant observations found were: lack of cycle counts or inadequate counts, lack of clear procedures regarding inventory management and warehouse procedures, lack of employee training, lack of record of impairments, poor order of materials from warehouses and products not suitable for distribution. With the improvement of procedures and implementation of verification formats for each process within the warehouse, a significant improvement was obtained. After the improvement of the inventory control systems, the inventory adjustment percentage decreased from 7.90% to 3.37% with respect to the monthly valuation of each inventory, that is, with respect to the total amount recorded in each inventory. The number of monthly claims by stores to the warehouse decreased from 24 to 4, thus resulting in an 80% improvement in this indicator. The application of the FIFO (FIRST IN FIRST OUT) inventory management method in the warehouse contributed to the improvement of warehouse management in terms of its dynamics, streamlining the process of storing and dispatching merchandise.
