Mechanization in Peru becomes important in all fields of agriculture, especially in harvesting, being one of the most expensive and laborious activities in the process of producing potatoes. In 2015, an annual production of 4715, 9 Tons was obtained and in 2014, according to FAO, production in Peru took 14th place in a group of 150 countries that sowed this crop (MINAGRI, 2017). To develop this project regarding the design, construction and technological improvement, the technique based on the Pahl and Beitz model was used. Taking to the conceptual design the description of the starter, cost critic, comparison of alternatives through the morphological matrix and defining the most important components of the design to obtain the best alternative. For this purpose, three potato starters of similar characteristics, activated, in their traction and movement, were compared by the tractor's power take-off axis and the three-point hitch. This valuation allowed us to obtain the best alternative among three starters, and then proceed to increase technological advantages: designing, manufacturing, testing, the three-point hitch with more work variations, and adding potato selection grids. Finally, the design is specified with the corresponding details and plans for the manufacture of the machine with the corresponding innovations. This thesis meets the objectives: Design, construction and evaluation of a prototype potato starter with mechanical traction and its use and dissemination is recommended taking into account the categorization of adopters, carry out similar research projects for other crops whose profitable products are found within the arable layer.
