The research considered the National Organic Agricultural Products Sector among 2000 and 2009. It is related to a national evaluation process considering growing and sector development, crops in hectares, producers and national and international marketing. The purpose of the study was the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of organic agricultural production and marketing in Peru as a possible alternative for rural sustainable development and identifies the generic strategy for development competiviness of the sector mentioned. It is known that there is no previous research is this sector which focuses the theoretical value and practical usage. The study was based on the theoretical approach to the competiviness at the national, sectorial and enterprise levels. The research was about a cross -sectional and descriptive one. Qualitive and Quantitive information were determinats of the Diamond Competitiveness and Porter's Five Forces measured and complemented by a SWOT matrix sector analysis. Organic products exports, organic production in hectares increased from 15.1 to 240 million US Dollars, from 28, 225 to 314,190 ha and from 8,505 to 46,230 producers respectively among 2001 and 2009 were the results. The domestic demand has only a share of 3% and 97 % of the international marketing production. Main organic products are coffee, bananas, cocoa and mango and they represent 93% of total exports. In conclusion, organic agriculture is seen as an essential source of competitive advantage in Peru. The competiviness of the sector is mainly oriented to the implementation of the high segmentation approach strategy
