The bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) belongs to a range of cultivars produced in Peru, whose production is destined for the European and U.S. markets. However, the restrictions imposed by these markets have forced growers to manage their production under the “casamalla“ protected cultivation system. In my experience in the management of the crop under this system in the district of San Pedro de Lloc, my objective was to identify and provide alternative solutions to the main problems encountered. The main problems were the lack of uniformity in fruit production, poor distribution of personnel in the work, inopportune phytosanitary applications, lack of maintenance of the anti-aphid nets and the irrigation system. In response, methods such as fruit thinning were applied, informative talks were given to all personnel on good agricultural practices in the management of the cutlive tree, and personnel responsible for maintaining the anti-aphid nets were appointed and trained. In addition, the pH of the irrigation water was rectified to avoid crop losses due to Stip and Blossom. These measures contributed to improving uniformity in production and quality of the exportable product.
