The research focuses on the development of hydraulic criteria for a two-dimensional computerized modeling using the IBER software for a river intake structure designed to collect water samples for the measurement of the water quality of the Rímac River. The necessary information for the project was obtained from the “Creation of the Rímac River Alert Station“ project, developed by the Lima Water and Sewer Service (SEDAPAL). The research involved the evaluation of three fundamental studies of the project: hydrology, geology, and topography. In the hydrological study, a review of maximum flood events, including climate change criteria, was conducted to determine the design flow rates. The criteria established by the National Water Authority (ANA) for assessing hydraulic models in urban areas, with a 100-year return period, were used to select the simulation flow rate. The geological study focused on reviewing the local geological characteristics of the study area, providing information on soil cover, geological risk, natural contaminants, among other factors. This information was necessary for a proper analysis of hydraulic simulation. Simultaneously, the topographic study provided data on the terrain's topography, including specific characteristics that were verified in the field. These data served as a solid mathematical foundation for initiating the hydraulic simulation of the river. An analysis of the intake structure was also performed, with a focus on identifying and meeting the conditions for mixing homogenization, pump continuity, and intake at different levels. Through hydraulic simulation, the behavior of the river intake structure under extreme conditions was assessed, and maximum water levels and velocities were obtained. The results obtained meet the hydraulic design requirements, including parameters for uniform flow and subcritical flow ranges, as well as maintaining a water level above the pump submergence level
