The study was conducted to compare the effect of two commercially available extenders (Andromed®-plant based and Optixcell®-liposome-based) on post‐thaw sperm quality and functionality variables evaluated using computer‐assisted sperm analysis. A total of 40 ejaculates from four Brown Swiss breed bulls from 3 to 6 years of age were analyzed; the treatments were: T1, ejaculates diluted in soy lecithin; T2, ejaculates diluted in liposomes. Sperm motility analysis was obtained with the help of a computerized semen analysis system (CASA); Hoeschst 33342 / PI fluorescence staining was used for the sperm viability study, and the evaluation of the sperm membrane functionality was performed through the endosmosis test. In the statistical part, the assumptions of normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and the homogeneity of variances (Levene's test) were verified, later the analysis of variances (ANVA) was performed, and the data were analyzed with the statistical program Statgraphics Centurion. It was determined that there were no statistically significant differences (p> 0.05) in the parameters of percentage of total motility (75.20% and 75.51%), viability (60.65% and 60.80%) and functionality of the sperm membrane (49.05% and 51.48 %) for Andromed and Optixcell, respectively. It is concluded that the dilutors Andromed and Optixcell presented acceptable values of post-thaw semen quality, and can be used for the cryopreservation of bull semen
