Peru, due to its geographical configuration, is exposed to the occurrence of floods. In Cusco these are a repetitive problem, then arises the need to take actions to prevent and mitigate this disaster. This is why the present work titled “Designing an Early Warning System for the protection of construction camps in extreme hydrological events - Urubamba basin“ aims at the design of an Early Warning System (EWS) in the water network of The Urubamba river basin. To achieve this design it was necessary firstly to identify the possible locations for the installation of the limnimetric rulers of early warning and control in camps. Once established the places of emplacement of the rulers, hydrological and hydraulic calculations were made taking as reference return periods of: 05, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 and 200 years, in order to obtain the graphs of levels (msnm) vs. flows (m³/s), which were used to generate 15 limnimetric rulers of alert and control in camps. Each of these rulers was characterized by colors ranging from lowest to highest level of danger in the following order: green, yellow, orange and red; in this way, it must be taken the correct actions for the different scenarios according to the established security protocol. Finally, an instructive indicating the main considerations for the correct reading and interpretation of alert levels in the rulers was elaborated, which includes: the type and form of reading, as well as the significance of each alert level; In addition to the reading frequency, a format is also included for the correct reading and recording of the flow levels; (RL-06 and RL-07) for sector 1 and a special mention about the levels and flows in flood camps (AL-136, AL-085 and RC-CA26) is made, it shows that for a low return period (less than 10 years) the risk of flooding is imminent, due to the fact that the level (msnm) of the camps and/or logistic stores involved are less than or equal to the level reached by said flow in the evaluated section for the installation of the limnimetric rules.
