Due to the rapid growth of the vehicles and the limited improvement in the physical conditions of the cities, traffic congestion has become one of the main urban problems, which is why today road and urban planning is of the utmost importance. The main objective of this research thesis was to analyze the operational difference, by calculating service levels, for two types of intersections with the presence of a significant number of pedestrians. The first the typical configuration and the second the Tokyo-type intersections. To determine traffic conditions, the traffic information of the project was used with the corresponding vehicle capacity at said intersections, considered the hours of greatest demand. Likewise, to determine the geometric conditions of the intersections, the topographic survey was carried out. Finally, to determine the traffic light conditions, an inventory of the traffic light control devices was carried out. With the data obtained, the road capacity and service level were calculated based on the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2016) which is incorporated into the VISSIM simulation software, said software allowed us to simulate these intersections in their state current.
