Agriculture is an activity that since very ancient times provides inputs for the world's food. Yields are very varied, due to factors such as soil, climate, seed, management, pest and disease control. In La Unión Leticia, a Tarma province's district, Junín region, there are agricultural problems with crop stubble, which after being scraped is left on the ground and later, when are dry, are burned contributing ashes and carbonates to the soil. This fact increases the pH of the soil, which is 7.97 on average. The objectives of this work are to implement an agricultural extension programme for farmers in this area, giving priority to reducing the burning of crop residues, producing compost by mixing crop residues and manure from small animals such as guinea pigs and sheeps, and incorporating into the soil, thus increasing the farmers' family income by improving their production. Training was carried out as part of an extension programme with individual participatory models, disseminating terms and mechanisms of soil action and the use of organic soil amendments. Finally, 15% of farmers were sensitised to reduce the burning of stubble, avoiding accumulation of carbonated residues that increase the pH of the soil. Compost is being produced from crop residues and fresh manure from sheep and guinea pigs. This last fact increased their crop yields by 30% in the third season.
