This study aims to determine the socioeconomic factors that have influenced the adoption of technologies for genetic improvement of cattle in the district of Florida – Pomacochas in the region of Amazonas in northern Peru. Where, small landholders raise cattle as their principal economic activity. A mixed methodological model, which integrates qualitative and quantitative aspects, was employed, through semi-structured data gathering tools to samplea populations of 144 farmers. Considered variables included social, technical, and economic factors. They were analyzed using descriptive statistics, contingency tables, correlation, and linear regression. The factors influencing the adoption of technologies for genetic improvement are: education level, organization, technical assistance, land possession and knowledge in genetic improvement, as social factors, and access to credit, main economic activity, and milk production, as economic factors; being the adoption of technologies an important proposal to promote economic and productive development in areas with productive potential, such as the district under study.
