In this study, an investment project for the recovery of the SERH of the Chanicocha microbasin is economically evaluated, to determine its viability and ensure the provision of water in the dry season that SEDAPAL captures, to offer it to the city of Metropolitan Lima. Determining a methodology that allows to identify the conservation status of the ecosystem classified in 5 levels (very good, good, fair, poor and very poor), the current levels of the provision of the SERH with its demand, calculated with the RAS method, and the alternatives that provide a solution to the degradation problem, selecting one of this through its costeffectiveness indicator. The result obtained shows the ecosystems with signs of degradation, with more than 60% of the vegetation cover from fair to poor, and producing a current water recharge of 123,193.95 m³ / year with a tendency to decrease over time. The two alternatives propose various actions to recover ecosystems, with investment amounts of S /. 2´834,277.99 and S /. 2´913,383.5, obtaining in both a similar water recharge that is 128,371.11 m³ / year. The indicator to determine the viable alternative is the lowest social cost for each m³ of water produced by the project in a period of 20 years, resulting for each one 15.98 S /./ m³ and 16.16 S /./ m³, selecting the first.
