(es_PE)
Objective: to evaluate the in vitro antifungal activity of ethanolic and methanolic extracts of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. (stick) against Candida albicans ATCC 90028 and Aspergillus niger ATCC 6275. Material and methods: quantitative approach, experimental design, cross-sectional. The extracts were obtained by means of the maceration technique, which were phytochemically screened to check the presence of secondary metabolites. Kirby Bauer's technique was applied to evaluate the antifungal activity by working methanolic and ethanolic extracts in concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75% on Candida albicans ATCC 90028 and Aspergillus niger ATCC 6275 and comparing it with fluconazole as a control. Results: anthocyanins, alkaloids, lactones, tannins and phenols were found in the ethanolic and methanolic extracts of Curcuma longa L., as well as a moderate presence of flavonoids and a slight presence of triterpenes. The methanolic extract of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. (stick), in the concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75% for the Candida albicans strain ATCC 90028, has highly sensitive antifungal activity. The ethanolic extract of the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. (stick), in the concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75% for the Aspergillus niger strain ATCC 6275, has extremely sensitive antifungal activity, while with Fluconazole it was very sensitive for both extracts in the range of 14.70 – 19.92 mm. Conclusions: methanolic and ethanolic extracts of the rhizome of Curcuma longaL. (stick) have highly sensitive antifungal activity in vitro against Candida albicans ATCC 90028 and Aspergillus niger ATCC 6275 respectively. (es_PE)
