Objective of this study was to determine how the associated factors affect self-medication with azithromycin as a treatment for COVID-19 in the pharmacies and pharmacies of the Rimac district in 2020. Materials and methods: the data collection technique was used through a structured anonymous survey with closed questions Results: they were obtained using the SPSS 24.0 IBM program for Microsoft Windows, Excel, descriptive considering the response frequency for each item with a population of 56% female and 46% male with a range of 18 to 73 years. 72.5% of the study subjects acquired medications without a prescription in drugstores and pharmacies in the RIMAC district. 59.5% indicated knowing the risk of inappropriate use of the medication and 58.5% knew about the antimicrobial resistance of antibiotic consumption if it is not required. the negative answer is predominant in items 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8. When asked if they took azithromycin for prevention of COVID- 19 disease, 62.5% and 60.5% indicated that they did not take azithromycin due to suspicion of suffering from the disease. COVID- 19 disease, compared to 39.5% that if I take azithromycin and 30% recommended to a family member 35.5% that if I buy in a pharmaceutical establishment. Conclusions: Considering the factors we observe that 72.5% if they manage to buy medicines without a prescription and 39.5% if I take azithromycin when suspected of having COVID-19 disease.
