Currently there is a large sector of the Peruvian population that suffers from anemia due to poor nutrition and scarce resources. This problem has generated, more than an opportunity, the need to carry out a social project that benefits all these people. Therefore, this thesis consists of a pre-feasibility study of an anchovy-based protein powder production plant to combat anemia. As mentioned above, the choice of the topic originates from the multiple cases of anemia and malnutrition in Peru and now even more so given the situation experienced by Covid-19. The main added value is the use of Peruvian inputs. In addition, the protein will not only be rich in iron, but also in omega 3 and healthy fats, which would make our product even more attractive to consumers. The plant would be located in the industrial zone of Callao, as this location guarantees lower costs due to its proximity to the raw material and the market, and low land costs. The product proposal includes: extracting the elemental properties of the fish, processing, adding certain inputs and offering a product that helps improve the nutrition and health of all people of all ages and social classes in Metropolitan Lima. Demand in the first year is 182,249 kilograms and increases 1.2% per year. The product will be distributed in boxes of 12 containers of 1 kg each to specialized sports supplement stores. The introductory price will be S/.15 and will be promoted through agreements with the government, together with an advertising campaign. The plant's actual capacity is 727,633.03 kg/year, which is equivalent to 727,633 containers/year, thus guaranteeing the supply of the project's demand. A total investment of S/. 5,109,445.65 is required. The results of the economic and financial evaluation demonstrate the viability of the project since the NPV and NPV ratios obtained are S/ 5,646,597.13 and S/ 7,443,517.12, respectively. Additionally, the EIRR 47.03% and FIRR 68.15% are higher than the COK (19.53%). This leads to the conclusion that the project is profitable.
